Kacie Flowers

Kacie earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from San Diego State University and is Orton-Gillingham certified. She is a learning specialist with over 18 years of experience in academia. Initially starting out as a college professor, Kacie has made the shift to working one-on-one with students ranging from middle school through college. She has a passion for finding what each individual student needs to get them to thrive and loves getting students to find joy in learning. Kacie believes that all students can succeed when given the right tools and that there is not a one size fits all approach that works for everyone. Although many students have encountered barriers and setbacks that have kept them from enjoying learning, Kacie excels in making lessons fun and engaging and building a strong relationship with each student so that they build the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

My Approach

I provide online educational services with individualized instruction that is tailored to each student’s needs. We live in an increasingly digital age; therefore, getting students comfortable and competent working in a virtual setting will ensure their future success both academically and professionally. My goal is to instill the tools and the confidence needed for your student to thrive.

What Clients are Saying

"I wouldn’t have survived high school without Kacie! She helped me stay on track with my grades, feel confident in my work, and get into a top tier college."

Elsie V., Student

"Kacie took my son’s grades from not even passing to getting into the design school of his dreams, which we never thought was possible. I would recommend her with all of my heart to anyone who has a student who is struggling in school. If she can turn things around for him, she can turn them around for anyone! "

Academic Management

Most parents are tired of feeling like they are constantly keeping after their kids to get their homework done and do well in school. Working with an academic coach helps take that stress off of your plate knowing that someone else will be doing the job. Through analyzing school portals, teacher feedback, points of strength and weakness, building study strategies, tips for self-advocacy with teachers and administration, as well as academic tutoring and planning, I ensure that nothing is slipping through the cracks and that your student is striving to reach their very highest potential.

Executive Function Coaching

Executive function refers to the set of skills any person needs in order to excel in academics and life. Executive function skills include the capacity to plan ahead and meet goals, the ability to stay on task, follow multi-step directions without getting overwhelmed or shutting down, stay focused even with distractions, and organization. Combining any test data with parent and teacher input, I help assess individual areas of strength and weakness and help create a plan for progress. There is also nothing more boring than learning these skills in a vacuum, so I also work with the students on these skills in relation to their school assignments so they are also feeling accomplished as we work.

Academic Tutoring

Tailored for all types of learners, I provide individualized academic support to strengthen areas of weakness. I try to make learning fun while building confidence in the students. I also act as their ultimate cheerleader to celebrate any wins or successes they may have. Subjects include: English, writing, reading comprehension, humanities, and language arts.
